How to shoot the bad guy without getting shot yourself
The traditional firearms training in America started as target shooting. That would imply that the target and the person shooting remained stationary.
While this was fine for practice target shooting, that approach is not helpful and not nearly realistic under the real world conditions, where the target is on the move.
Engaging moving targets is very different from dealing with the stationary ones and it requires a different set of skills.
Knowing the skill of shooting while moving at the same time is also a valuable skill because it makes it most difficult for the bad guy to shoot you.
Another issue is looking at the sight versus focusing on target. The natural human instinct is to look at the bad guy and that is what usually happens. Obviously, shot placement is also very important. Unfortunately, traditional center mass oriented shooting has failed on numerous occasions to stop the threat.
On the other hand, head shot generally works well.
